Privacy policy: how the National Games Week guide handles your data

This policy explains what happens to information when you read nationalgamesweek.net. In short: the site has no accounts, no forms, no cookies and no tracking, and the only records kept are standard server logs.

Who this policy covers

The policy applies to everyone who visits the pages at nationalgamesweek.net, from the home page to the printable sheets. It covers what the site collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can ask for. Other websites that the pages link to are not covered; they have their own policies. Behind the pages there is no customer database, membership list or user account of any kind.

2

No accounts, forms or cookies

The site is a set of static pages. You cannot sign up, log in, comment or submit a form, so nothing you type is stored. The pages set no cookies, first-party or third-party, and use no analytics service, advertising network, social media widget or tracking pixel.

Fonts and images are served from the same server as the pages, so opening a page does not send requests to outside font or image hosts.

3

Countdown, calculators and printables

Some pages do small jobs in your browser: the countdown to the week in the header, the year picker on the dates page, the player-count planner on the home page and the print buttons on the printable sheets. All of that runs on your own device. Nothing you click or choose is sent back to the server, and nothing is saved in your browser's storage after you leave.

4

Server logs kept by the host

Like almost every web server, the one that delivers these pages keeps access logs. Each entry records the IP address that made the request, the date and time, the page or file asked for, the response code, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the browser and operating system it reports. The hosting provider and the network that delivers the pages may process the same details to keep the site online and to block attacks, and in rare cases that network can set a short-lived security cookie while it checks for automated traffic.

Logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and checking that pages load correctly. They are not combined with other data, used to build profiles or sold, and they are deleted on a rolling basis after a limited period.

5

Security

Pages are served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, so the addresses you open are protected in transit between your browser and the server. Because there is no database of users, there is nothing to steal beyond the server logs, which stay on the host with access limited to the people who maintain the site.

6

Email you send

If you write to [email protected], your address, your name if you give one, and the message are used to read and answer it and to check any correction you send. They are not added to a mailing list, shared with publishers or stores, or passed to anyone else unless the law requires it. More about what to send is on the contact page.

8

Children

The guide is written for families, teachers and librarians, and children may read it. Because the pages collect no personal information, none is collected from children. Parents and teachers are asked not to send children's names or photos by email; if that happens, the message is deleted after reading. Teachers and librarians who hand printed sheets to pupils can do so freely: printing a page sends nothing to anyone.

9

Your rights and changes to this policy

You can ask by email what, if anything, is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Depending on where you live, laws such as state privacy statutes in the United States or the GDPR in Europe may give you further rights, and requests are handled in line with them. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. This version is dated October 2026.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Does nationalgamesweek.net use cookies?

The pages themselves set no cookies of any kind, so there is no cookie banner and nothing to accept or decline. There is no analytics script, advertising code or social media embed that could set cookies for another company either. The only exception is rare: the network that delivers the site can set a short-lived security cookie while it checks for automated traffic.

Does the countdown track visitors?

No. The countdown works out the days to Thanksgiving week from your device's clock, inside your browser. It sends nothing to the server and stores nothing. The same goes for the year picker and the game night planner: once the page has loaded they work even offline, and any choice you make disappears when you close the tab.

What happens to an email sent to the editors?

It is read and, where needed, answered. The address and message are kept only as long as the conversation needs them and are used for nothing else: no newsletter, no sharing with publishers or stores, no sale. To have an exchange deleted, ask in the same thread and it will be removed from the mailbox.

Where should privacy questions go?

Write to [email protected] with the word Privacy in the subject line, and say what you would like to know or have removed. Because the site keeps so little, most answers are short: there is no account, profile or browsing history to look up, only server logs and any email you have sent yourself.
